Baselworld 2018: Simple But Actually A Master Inside Blancpain Blancpain Villeret Flying Tourbillon

Since launching the first watch equipped with a flying tourbillon in 1989, BLANCPAIN will once again perform a new interpretation of this legendary advanced complication in Baselworld in 2018, and add a time jump to the work And the retrograde minutes, two rare functions, the Villeret flying tourbillon retrograde minutes watch. In addition to the tourbillon structure that seems to be suspended in mid-air, this new product is also carefully modified by the masters of the Blancpain workshop with a manual movement and a large fire enamel face plate.

Blancpain has been making tourbillon watches for almost 30 years. In 2018, the brand reinterpreted this traditional watchmaking complication, and brought out the tourbillon’s moving posture with a very simple design.

The new Villeret flying tourbillon minute retrograde watch features a double-layer 42 mm rose gold case with crocodile leather or metal chain straps, both of which are also secured by folding buckles. In addition, a limited edition of 50 platinum versions are available.
Both the time jump function and the retrograde minute function are unprecedented for Blancpain, so both are debuting in this series of works. The hours and minutes are combined, with the hour display window placed on the retrograde minute display. In the Blancpain Le Brassus Art Master Studio, the watch factory combines its technical expertise with aesthetic manifestations to create a classic large open flame enamel faceplate with traditional infill enamel technology. The craftsmen first create small holes in the gold chassis, and then manually coat it with multiple layers of enamel, and then fire it at about 800 degrees Celsius. After the completion, the edges of the hour display window and tourbillon display window will be specially polished with diamonds to bring more complicated and delicate visual sense and create charming deep effects.

The Villeret series has not previously used the jumping time or retrograde minute design. Now, on this watch, they are simultaneously assembled, with the superior texture of the big fire enamel.

Like all Blancpain movements, this flying tourbillon is also made by the watch factory itself. This practice has become an indispensable part of this watch factory full of historical tradition for nearly three decades. By removing the upper bridge in the traditional tourbillon design, the wearer’s vision will no longer be obstructed. This special structure therefore allows the key components of the tourbillon to be fully exposed to everyone. On top of this, the brand new Villeret flying tourbillon time retrograde minute watch goes a step further in this concept, even removing the original bottom bridge and replacing it with a fully transparent sapphire disc. In this way, the tourbillon frame, balance wheel and escapement connected to it seem to be completely suspended in the air. This extraordinary pursuit of detail is also reflected in the movement, such as each bridge is decorated with hand-engraved decoration. From the transparent sapphire caseback on the case back, the wearer can also admire Blancpain’s famous chamfered ratchets and wheels, as well as the power reserve indicator panel decorated with engraving technology.
